Tee hee

Alright, it's true. You're looking at a urine sample cup...that was kept sterile until filled with popcorn. My kids think getting one of these is another perk of going to the doctor with mom. So why is it filled with popcorn? We went as a family to see "Up" the other day and got some popcorn. Instead of having them fight over who gets to hold the bag a popcorn, I remembered I had this in my purse and filled it for Laura. She loved it and was content with her sample size popcorn. The funny part to me was when we left the movie she was carrying it with her proudly through the theater. The looks we got were priceless. Not my proudest moment as a mother, but at least it was funny.

Yesterday was a good day.

I've hit a wall.

So, I haven't blogged for over a month, not that I believe people are out there actively wondering what we're up to...besides my mom. The only thing that I had worth mentioning was this...

That's a folder sheet there, but not just any sheet...it's a fitted sheet. That's the best work I've ever done on a fitted sheet, and even my husband praised my work. (I thought he was teasing me at first, but I think he was really serious.) I know it's not Martha Stewart worthy, but it's not the worst I've seen either.

And then there's the lizard who helped me with my groceries one day. I was in and out of the house with armfuls of bags and just after I shut the door I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. Not the kind of movement you want to see, like you daughter twirling or your spouse picking up a wet towel. It was, "Oh crap, what the heck is that!?!" kind of movement. When I saw this little guy he was just standing facing the door I had just closed behind me. I stood a moment and thought that maybe this little boyscout was just helping with the groceries and found himself caught inside when I shut the door. So, I opened it and then he walked out. That was that. I was thankful that no brooms, chasing or dramatic squishing was involved.

So, that's it. When I say I avoid a busy lifestyle, I mean it. Other people blog about their great beach vacations and there accomplished kids, but me...all I've got is a well adjusted lizard and a neat linen closet.

Easter, Orchids, and Butterflies

This is the best picture I could get of the two. Justin was anti-pink for this Easter when it came to the dresses. So we went in a different direction.

We also went to see a little orchid exhibit downtown. Who doesn't like being surrounded by gorgeous flowers?

While we were downtown we also went to the butterfly pavilion. They flutter about you minding their business, just be careful where you step....seriously.

Mom

My mom came to town for a visit...first to watch the little ones while Justin and I went to Boston. But then she stayed for almost a week to be with us all. I just have to say that I know there are a lot of great moms out there, but I have THE VERY BEST one. She loves me no matter how annoying I am and she loves my kids like I do. Thanks to my mother who worked so hard to do the right thing for me and my five brothers.

With baby number three on the way, we've been looking for a better car for the family. A Honda Civic can only work for so long....so here's my new ride. I can now blend into the sea of minivans and feel confident that I can tote all our crap around the country with ease. I feel validated as a mother and am no longer "making due" when it come to getting around with the kids. Well, I'm sure I can come up with some errands to run. I'm outta here!

Boston

Justin and I went to Boston last weekend for a little kid free get away. We had a great time and hope to take that trip again someday. Thanks to my sweet mother who managed to take care of the little people while we were gone. She didn't just keep them alive, she took them to the movies and Chuck E. Cheese. They didn't even miss us.
